I have a mailing list of about 2,750 people for BellevueBusinessJournal.com - I don't mail as much as I should - it's much better to be consistent. I think I'll start doing it weekly again. I believe Tuesdays are supposed to be the best days.
If you want to try Constant Contact for free for 60 days, click on the Partners and Sponsors link on the right (I'll get credit for it).

I tried GoDaddy's Email Express but they will not let anything but a 100% pure list go through. My client's list is about 17,000. I ran it through Email Verifier and cleaned out about 5,000 bad emails. But they still will not let me use their service. Sooooooo, that is why I am searching for a new one. The free trial that CC offers is only good for 100 names. :-| Yes, tuesday after 2:00 is supposed to be the optimum time to send messages. I am now just waiting for my client to approve the $150 per month fee from CC to get started.
Thanks!
